Summer 2011 will see the self-release of the much-anticipated debut album from Ocean Bottom Nightmare.

OBN formed in Nottingham at the beginning of 2007 out of a mutual desire to make quirky rock music. They cut their teeth playing a plethora of gigs around the UK with the likes of Future Of The Left, Baddies, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Pulled Apart By Horses, Gay For Johnny Depp, Tubelord and Blakfish, and quickly became renowned for extremely energetic, frantic and engaging performances.

Aside from an exciting spectacle on stage, the music itself was able to garner a rare cross-genre appeal by combining the passion and raw emotion of punk and metal with a pop sensibility and a strong sense of melody and harmony. It was immediate and in your face, yet layered enough to reward repeated listening.

They'd be perfect on the Vans Warped Tour. And the Kerrang Tour in the UK: they'd be amazing on that. - Mark Richardson (Skunk Anansie/Feeder)

In 2009 they released their debut EP, We Are Serious: four tracks of distorted bass, three-part harmonies and manic screaming, with a touch of glockenspiel for good measure. Four concise tactical bursts of explosive alternative rock. The EP was received with unequivocally positive reviews.

Spurred on by their successes, the band set to writing new material. In May 2010, OBN released their first full single, What Would Judas Do?. Mixed by legendary producer Chris Sheldon (Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters, Reuben), it was a significant step forward for the band and represented a honing and maturing of their sound. It was met with critical praise, receiving airplay on BBC Radio ONE, the mantle of Tip Of The Week from Huw Stephens, and led to an appearance on BBC Radio Nottingham.
